If you are afraid of public speaking...does that make you a more eloquent speaker or does it make you stammer and freeze up?
If you are afraid of flying...what does that do for you as far as maintaining relationships and visiting people who live 3000 miles away?
If you are afraid of walking a tightrope...does that make you more or less likely to fall?
If you are afraid of heights...what will happen to you if you are trapped in a burning building and the only escape is the 3rd floor window?
If a surgeon is afraid of making a mistake and killing you...would you want him doing open heart surgery on you?
If your child falls into a swimming pool and gets filled with fear and panics...will that help them swim and not drown?
Fear...can interfere with our relationships.
Fear...holds us back and interferes with our communication.
Fear...can make us fall.
Fear...makes us hurt others...and ourselves.
Fear...keeps us from living.
Fear...can drown us.
Fear...can kill us.
Science has even shown that fear and anxiety contribute to a plethora of physical ailments. (See Romans 1)
If you live a life controlled by fear...it is your master. And, we all can have only one master.
Fear...is not of God.
God...IS love. Everything that God does is in love.
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
You can either obey fear...or love. Not both.
Satan robs of us life thru fear.
Jesus gives us abundant life thru love.
You can serve only one.
So, why...would any Christian parent...wish to train their children with fear? And, why would any person who lives a life using fear to deal with others believe that love is their true master?
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity (fear), but of power and love and discipline
Romans 14:22-23
whatever is not from faith is sin.
Does your child "know better" and obey you out of fear?
Who is your child's master?
Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other."
